How to identify the quality of FRP water tanks

The quality of FRP water tanks can be identified from the following aspects:

Appearance inspection

Color: The surface color of high-quality FRP water tanks is uniform, without obvious color difference.

If the surface color is different in depth, it may be due to uneven mixing of raw materials or problems in the curing process during the production process.

Smoothness: The surface of a high-quality water tank should be smooth and flat, without defects such as bubbles, pitting, and cracks.

If you touch the surface of the water tank with your hand and feel rough or granular, it means that the production process may not be up to standard,

which will affect the sealing and service life of the water tank.
Shape: Observe whether the overall shape of the water tank is regular, and whether there is deformation, distortion, etc. In particular,

the edges and corners of the water tank should be neat and burr-free, otherwise it may affect installation and use.

Raw material testing

Resin: High-quality resin has good corrosion resistance, water resistance and mechanical strength. You can understand the brand,

model and performance indicators of the resin by checking the quality inspection report of the product. Generally speaking,

the quality of FRP water tanks produced with well-known brand resins is more guaranteed.
Fiber: Glass fiber is the reinforcing material of FRP water tanks, and its quality directly affects the strength of the water tank.

High-quality glass fiber should have high strength and uniform distribution. You can observe the cross-section of

the water tank to see whether the glass fiber is evenly distributed and whether there are obvious lumps or voids.

Performance test

Strength test: You can judge its strength by knocking on the surface of the water tank and listening to the sound.

A crisp and pleasant sound indicates that the water tank is strong; if the sound is dull or there is noise,

there may be internal defects. You can also ask the manufacturer to provide a compressive strength test

report of the water tank to understand its performance under different pressures.
Sealing test: Inject a certain amount of water into the water tank and observe whether there is leakage on

the surface and interface of the water tank. During the water filling process, pay attention to check all parts

of the water tank, including the side panels, bottom panels, top panels, and flange interfaces. If leakage is found,

it means that the sealing of the water tank is unqualified.
Aging performance test: Ask the manufacturer whether the water tank has been subjected to aging performance tests,

such as ultraviolet aging, thermal aging, etc. High-quality FRP water tanks should have good aging resistance and be able to maintain stable performance during long-term use.

Dimensional accuracy measurement

Overall dimensions: Use measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, etc. to measure the main dimensions of

the water tank, such as length, width, height, and diameter, and check whether they are consistent with the design

dimensions. Excessive dimensional deviation may affect the installation and use of the water tank, and also reflects

the manufacturer’s production process level.
Thickness: Measure the thickness of the side panels, bottom panels, and top panels of the water tank to ensure that

they meet the design requirements. Uneven or too thin thickness will affect the strength and service life of the water tank.
