GRP Water Tank Installation Guide
Pre-Installation Preparation
Tools & Materials Required:
Electric wrench, drill, clamps, bolts/nuts (stainless steel recommended), sealing belts, angle iron, lacing bars, vertical support rods, ladder components, water level gauge, silicone sealant, leveling tools, safety gear (gloves, goggles, harness).
Ensure all GRP panels, flanges, and accessories are undamaged and match the provided GRP water tank installation drawings.
Safety Precautions:
Work on stable ground; use scaffolding/ladders for heights.
Wear protective gear to avoid cuts from sharp edges.
1. Foundation Preparation
Materials/Tools: Concrete mix, spirit/laser level, compaction tools, curing materials, welding equipment, protective gear.
1.1 Cement Foundation
Site Inspection: Ensure the ground is stable and level. Remove debris and vegetation.
Pouring Foundation: Use reinforced concrete (minimum grade M20, 150mm thickness). Follow provided drawings for dimensions.
Curing: Allow 7 days for curing. Check for levelness (tolerance ±3mm/m²) using a spirit level.
1.2 C Channel Base Steel Installation
Positioning: Align galvanized C channels as per drawings, spaced per tank dimensions.
Welding: Weld channels to foundation anchors. Ensure verticality and horizontal alignment. Grind welds smooth and apply anti-corrosion paint.
2. Base/ Bottom Panel Assembly
Materials/Tools: Base panels, electric wrench, bolts/nuts (M10×40, grade 8.8), sealing belts.
2.1 Panel Layout
Lay panels on a flat surface, referencing numbering/sequence from drawings.
Insert sealing belts (EPDM) between joints to ensure watertightness.
2.2 Bolting
Fasten panels using bolts/nuts with an electric wrench (torque: 30–35 Nm). Avoid overtightening to prevent panel warping.
2.3 Placement on C Channels
Lift assembled base using soft slings to avoid scratches. Align edges with C channels.
3. Side Panel Installation
Materials/Tools: Side panels, sealing belts, rubber mallets.
3.1 Preparation
Attach sealing belts to panel edges. Position auxiliary angle iron vertically at corners for alignment.
3.2 Assembly
Bolt side panels to base (M10×50 bolts). Use rubber mallets to adjust alignment. Ensure gaps ≤2mm.
Tighten bolts diagonally to distribute pressure evenly.
4. Water Stoppage Angle Iron Installation
Materials/Tools: silicone sealant.
4.1 Placement
Install angle irons vertically at internal/external corners. seal joints with silicone.
Refer to drawings for exact positions (typically every 1–1.5m).
5. Structural Reinforcement Lacing Bar
Materials/Tools: Lacing bars, vertical steel rods , torque wrench.
5.1 Lacing Bars
Install horizontal lacing bars at mid-height and top. Bolt connections (torque: 25 Nm) to prevent lateral movement.
5.2 Vertical Supports
Attach rods diagonally from base to top corners. Ensure tension is even using turnbuckles.
6. Cover Panel Installation
Materials/Tools: Cover panels, EPDM gaskets.
6.1 Placement
Lay panels over the tank, Use gaskets between panels.
6.2 Fastening
Secure with M10×40 bolts (torque: 20–25 Nm). Trim excess gasket material.
7. Flange Installation
Materials/Tools: Flanges (DN50–DN200, size according to customer order request), hole saw, deburring tool.
7.1 Marking & Drilling
Mark positions per piping layout. Drill holes 2mm larger than flange OD. Deburr edges.
7.2 Mounting
Attach flanges with M10×50 bolts and seal with silicone. Ensure flange faces are parallel to pipes.
8. Ladder Installation
Materials/Tools: Steel ladders, ladder-clamps.
8.1 Mounting
For tanks >1m height, install internal/external ladders. Secure with clamps every 1.5m. Test stability (max deflection: 10mm under 150kg load).
9. Water Level Gauge
Materials/Tools: Float-type gauge, Glass tubing.
9.1 Installation
Mount gauge vertically on the side panel. Connect tubing to tank outlet. Calibrate per manufacturer instructions.
Post-Installation Checks
Leak Test: Fill tank gradually. Inspect joints for 24 hours.
Final Inspection: Verify bolt tightness, structural alignment, and safety features.
Safety Precautions
Use PPE (gloves, helmets, harnesses).
Follow local building codes and manufacturer guidelines.
Tools Checklist
Electric wrench, torque wrench, spirit level, welding machine, hole saw.
