Water Tank C-Channel Base: Overview
A C-Channel base is a prefabricated or site-assembled structural frame constructed from C-shaped steel sections (resembling a squared-off “C” in cross-section). 1-Material
Focusing on the most common type used for water tank bases: hot-rolled structural steel channels ASTM A36( A36 is a hot rolled, mild steel structural C shape with inside radius corners that is ideal for all structural applications), Chinese steel grade is GB/T706 Q235.
2-Surface Coating
Option 1: Red Color Paint Surface
Protection: Provides a basic layer of rust prevention.
Appearance: Distinctive red color.
Cost & Process: A more economical option. The process is simple and fast.
Best For: Indoor use or dry environments where corrosion is not a major concern.
Option 2: Red Color Paint Surface
Protection: Offers superior, long-lasting corrosion resistance. The steel is fully coated in a thick layer of zinc.
Appearance: Characteristic spangled, silver-gray finish.
Cost & Process: Higher cost due to a more complex process involving dipping the steel in molten zinc.
Best For: Outdoor, humid, or corrosive environments. Provides the best durability.

3-Size
The size will be different for different dimension water tank，Taking into account cost savings and weight carrying capacity comprehensively, we recommend the following (Standard: GB/T 706-2008 Hot-Rolled Section Steel) ：
8# ( C8 ) Channel Steel Parameters
Height: 80 mm
Flange Width: 43 mm
Web Thickness: 5 mm
Average Flange Thickness: 8 mm
Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for small water tanks or local load-bearing structures.
10# ( C10 ) Channel Steel Parameters
Height: 100 mm
Flange Width: 48 mm
Web Thickness: 5.3 mm
Average Flange Thickness: 8.5 mm
Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for medium-sized water tanks or primary load-bearing structures.
12# ( C12 ) Channel Steel Parameters
Height: 120 mm
Flange Width: 53 mm
Web Thickness: 5.5 mm
Average Flange Thickness: 9 mm
Applicable Scenarios: Suitable for large water tanks or high load-bearing scenarios.
The above parameters comply with the Chinese National Standard GB/T 706-2008.
Water Tank C-Channel Base: Installation
Step 1: Check & Count the Length and Quantity
– Count each length of C-Channel base according to document- ACCESSORIES LIST，which we send to client after loading water tank。
– If the quantity is not same as the list mark，please contact with us to check
– If the quantity is right，then can go ahead to next step layout it to right position before welding。
Step 2: Layout, Positioning, Measurement
– Lay out the C-channel beams on the concrete pad according to the manufacturer’s diagram. This is typically a grid pattern.
– Use a measuring tape to ensure the channels are correctly spaced and aligned. The spacing is determined by the tank’s size and design.
Step 3: Welding
– Firstly welding the 4 external frame
– Second welding the long length （Normally near to length of water tanks）C-Chanel base one by one
– Thirdly welding the short length（normally near to 1 meter） C-Chanel base one by one
Notes：in case of length of container limit, some time the C-Chanel Base length 1piece will be cut in to 2 pieces, if this condition, you need to welding 2 pieces together, then layout to right position.
