Water Tank Sectional Panel : Overview
Water tank sectional panel is the fundamental building block of a bolted or modular water tank. These tanks are assembled on-site from multiple prefabricated panels, making them a flexible, durable, and widely used solution for storing water in residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal applications.
Unlike one-piece tanks (like plastic or welded steel tanks), sectional tanks are constructed by connecting strong, factory-made panels using bolts Nuts and gaskets. This design allows for easy transport, installation, and scalability.
Water Tank Sectional Panel : Main Types
1-Material
The choice of material depends on the application, budget, and the liquid to be stored, our company mainly supply below type material of water tank:
– Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GRP): Lightweight, highly corrosion-resistant, and ideal for aggressive chemicals or environments where metal is unsuitable.
– Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel: The most common choice for potable water. Steel panels are coated in a layer of zinc for excellent corrosion resistance and strength.
– Stainless Steel: Used for applications requiring the highest hygiene standards or for storing slightly corrosive liquids. Common grades include 304 and 316.
2-Standard Size
Standard panel sizes are usually 1m x 1m, 1m x 1.5m, 1m x 0.5m, 0.5m x 0.5m, 1.22m x 1.22m, 1m x 1m is the most use size,because the panel has fixed length and width,then the water tank must be with an integer multiple of the a single panel.
3-Connection
- Bolted Connection :
Water tank panels are joined with bolts nuts gasket and sealing belt (black or white color), bolted type water tank include GRP type water tank, hot dip galvanized steel type water tanks, stainless steel type water tanks.
- Welding Connection :
Stainless steel water tank panels also can joined by welding, welding type connect stainless steel water tank price is lower than bolted type, but it request that client has experience work to do the welding work at site.
Water Tank Sectional Panel : Installation
Step 1: Install the Bottom Panel
– Layout Panels: Begin laying the bottom panels from the center towards the edges, Please note that the drilling hole position (vertical or beveled edge) on the bottom panel varies depending on its location — whether it is at the edge, corner (vertex), or inner face.
– Connect Panels: Place the specified joint seals or gaskets between the panels. Insert the bolts through the pre-drilled holes, add washers, and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
– Align and Level: Carefully align all bottom panels. Use a spirit level to ensure the entire floor is flat and level.
– Final Tightening: Once the entire floor is perfectly aligned and level, proceed to tighten all the nuts on the bottom panels uniformly using a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specified value.
Step 2: Assemble the Wall Panels
– Layout Panels: Different layer of wall panels with different thickness, check and layout it at right position, Please note that the drilling hole position (vertical or beveled edge) on the bottom panel varies depending on its location — whether it is at the edge, corner (vertex), or inner face.
– Connect Panels: Place the specified joint seals or gaskets between the panels. Insert the bolts through the pre-drilled holes, add washers, and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
Step 3: Connect Wall Panels with Bottom Panels
Once the bottom panels are securely installed and leveled on the C-channel base, the next step is to assemble the first (lower) row of wall panels and connect them vertically to the bottom panels.
Step 4: Connect Wall Panels of Different Face(4 face)
A typical bolted water tank has four sides (faces) — front, back, left, and right. After installing the first row of wall panels on each side, they must be connected at the corners (vertices) and across adjacent faces to form a continuous, sealed structure.
Step 5: Connect Top Cover Panels and Connect with Side Wall Panels
– Carefully position the top cover panels onto the completed wall structure.
– Hand-tighten all nuts and washers initially, then proceed to final tightening using a torque wrench.
Conclusion
Sectional water tank panels represent the gold standard in modern water storage solutions — combining strength, flexibility, and longevity in a single, engineered system. Whether made from GRP, hot-dip galvanized steel, stainless steel (304/316), or GRP, these modular panels offer unmatched advantages for projects of any scale. For more specific,Contact today!
